Christmas Decorations

2012 Ornament

I adore Christmas decorations, and therefore own far too many of them. But each ornament and figurine, toy and trinket has it’s own story. Each represents a memory or wish, a moment or emotion. They sparkle and spin on the tree. They march across shelves and perch on the mantel. For a single season, the house sprouts a glorious clutter of nostalgia and peace.

Next week, I’ll spend a quiet day packing it all into boxes and stacking it in the attic for another year, and the house will resume its usual routine. My memories, wishes, moments, and emotions will scatter, untethered, into the nebulous ether of experience.

They are all so cute. I love the reindeer on the shelf and the ducks. I’m sure the kitties will help you put everything away, especially if they can play with the tissue paper. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you! The cats will be sorry to see it all go into the attic, but at least they’ll be able to get back to their winter sleep schedule. They’ve been staying up late, playing with ornaments and chasing each other around the tree…

        They have their traditions!

Oh, thank you for sharing all your lovely and unique ornaments, Rae. I especially love the kitty ones (both animate and inanimate) and the glass unicorn!

That little glass unicorn is one of my very, very favorites! And I can’t resist a cat ornament (or a cat, apparently), so I could really call it our “cat tree”, rather than our Christmas tree…
