Lovely pictures! Moss is so evocative of the magical.
Being in an Irish frame of mind…the closest I’ve ever come to being like a fairy in a magical forest was walking along a trail actually named Mossy Woods on the grounds of the Muckross estate near Kilarney Ireland. It was very ancient and mysterious and wonderful!
This moss is growing on the stones that line one of our flower beds. It’s in part of the yard that stays really damp and doesn’t get much sun. A few years ago, the chickadees ripped up most of it to use in their nest, and it’s taken a while to grow back. I’m happy to see it looking so healthy!

Beautiful! Is this your back yard moss forest? Lovely pictures as always. Thanks, Rae.

This time of year is great for moss. The sporophytes are well developed.
